A Red Mass For Mars - Jonathan Hickman i wish that i liked this one more, as it was a gift from Dave (thanks Dave!)... overall it was pretty enjoyable. but it was also something of a disappointment. the plot was a great combination of comic strip action and far-future space opera... essentially, the aliens from Aliens vs. a bunch of Kingdom Come-style super-assholes. the sense of Saga, of Epic Scale, of The End of the Earth - all very well-done. the art was quite splendid. but, sadly, the usual achilles' heel for the genre raises its tired head: the dialogue is often atrocious - cheesy, corny ham. ah well, can't win 'em all.
